Clarksville's 99-Acre Expansion: Ascension St. Thomas' Impact on the City (2026)

The City of Clarksville's annexation proposal for a 99-acre plot east of Exit 11 has sparked interest, as it will accommodate Ascension St. Thomas Health Care's upcoming land purchase. The proposal includes rezoning approximately 60 acres from agricultural to C-2 general commercial, aligning with existing commercial properties. This expansion aims to enhance the city's infrastructure and services, with plans for a 44-bed hospital, expandable to 132 beds, and a 40-bed rehabilitation hospital in partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation. The project, valued at $148.5 million, will create around 250 healthcare jobs and is set to commence construction in 2026, opening its doors in 2028. The site will also feature medical office buildings, a retail plaza, a high-turnover restaurant, and an EMS station. However, road improvements are necessary, particularly on Little Hope Road, which is not within the city limits. The Clarksville City Council will review the proposal on March 5th, with the potential for multi-phase development over several years.
